A family tradition since 2013

How It All Began

Madeira’s was founded in 2013 by Jose Carvalho, who had a vision to bring authentic Portuguese and Madeiran flavours to Northampton. Inspired by his heritage, Jose set out to create a place where traditional food, warm hospitality, and family values came together.

In 2015, his sister Monica joined the restaurant, helping out on and off over the following years. The restaurant quickly became more than just a workplace, it became a true family home. In 2017, Monica met her future husband at Madeira’s, and in 2020 they even celebrated their wedding reception here, surrounded by family, friends, and the community that had supported the restaurant from the very beginning.

Today, Madeira’s is proudly run by Monica, her husband Tony, and their children. Still rooted in its original vision, the restaurant continues to serve authentic Portuguese and Madeiran dishes made with care, tradition, and a genuine love for sharing great food with others.
