Our Story
Madeira’s is a family-run Portuguese restaurant founded in 2013 with one simple goal – to share the flavours of Madeira and Portugal with our local community.
Every dish is made with love, tradition and quality ingredients, inspired by recipes passed down through generations.
For us, it’s not just about food – it’s about family, friends and feeling at home.
Our Signature Dishes
Grilled Chorizo with Bread
Slices of smoky Portuguese chorizo, flame grilled to bring out its rich, spicy flavours and served with bread; perfect for soaking up all the juices and oils.
Prawns with Garlic Sauce
Succulent prawns sautéed in a rich, aromatic garlic and olive oil sauce with a splash of white wine and a hint of lemon — a classic Portuguese favourite that delivers bold seaside flavour in every bite.
Beef Skewers
Tender cubes of marinated beef threaded onto skewers and grilled over open flame, offering a succulent, charred exterior and juicy centre. Typically served with a side of salad, rice, fries or potatoes.
Portuguese Biscuit Cake
A classic Portuguese dessert of layered crisp biscuits with a light creamy filling, resulting in a sweet, nostalgic treat that’s subtly spiced and perfectly balanced.

3 courses and drinks and tip 45 pounds. Had the hanging steak, tasted amazing, and service from the waitress was impeccable. Will definitely be a regular spot.

I’ve been going to Madeiras for the past 4 years (regular customer) and can highly recommend. Amazing home cooked Portuguese food. I’ve tried most of the menu over the years including the deliciously tender espetada (meat skewers) but my favourite is the prawns in garlic sauce (with chips and salad). The house wine is also fantastic. And the Portuguese beers (Superbok & Sagres). Prices are very reasonable.

You know the buzz you get when you eat at a great restaurant while on holiday abroad? I got that at Madeira's!
Food was excellent, especially the beef skewers, and there's a good choice of Portuguese drinks. Staff were friendly and able to recommend dishes. The service was on point. A great dining experience!

Was recommended by a friend, and happened to be going to the cricket so thought we would give it a go. Don't judge a book by its cover! Looks plain from the outside but had a lovely meal ,turned up a bit early 1-30 but they were quite happy to open up for us ,the owner was very friendly and attentive and we ordered a beer and a wine 🍷 which arrived promptly then ordered the hanging skewers with rice chips and salad .All cooked fresh and the marinated chicken was excellent would definitely recommend giving it a try, the food was reasonably priced and the toilets were clean and smelled fresh .It's on the street parking but we found plenty of spaces even on match day

I randomly found this portuguese resturant when looking for them and as soon as I saw family run business that was enough for me. And it this place didnt disappoint! Once inside it has a lovely extended back for tables and the service was amazing. The husband and wife really put their heart and soul into making your experience pleasurable and welcoming. It was my birthday and they made it feel special. The food was amazing. I had seafood. I only have the picture of the prawns because I didnt take it! (If you like fish, I really recommend the sea bass) and at great prices! Get down and support this oitmo (great) local business. If I lived in Northampton this would be my go to!

I had a fantastic experience at Madeira's last night. And it was my sons 18th but he was a bit shy to announce it. The food was absolutely delicious, but what truly set the evening apart was the incredible staff. From the moment we walked in, we were treated with genuine warmth and professionalism. Every recommendation was spot on, and the service was seamless. Highly recommend!

Madeira's Restaurant is a wonderful discovery for anyone craving authentic Portuguese flavours. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and genuinely family-run—you can feel the pride and passion in every detail. The star of the show is the grilled chicken, marinated and chargrilled to perfection, with that signature piri-piri kick. It's juicy, smoky, and absolutely delicious. The chips are crispy, the rice is fluffy, and the house sauce is addictive. Portions are generous, prices are fair, and the service is incredibly friendly. A true taste of Madeira that keeps you coming back for more.

Best francesinha I’ve had in a long time!
We asked for our francesinha to be served in a traditional bolo do caco instead of sliced bread, and wow… what a dream! The combination of the garlic butter with the francesinha sauce was absolutely incredible. OMG 😲 — a true shock of flavour, and honestly difficult to put into words. So delicious!

What a little gem of a restaurant. Wonderful food. I had the dorado or in the uk known as sea bream. Beautifully cooked. Delicious! I will definitely go back again when in Northampton. Thank you.

Love this place. Been twice now and it really reminds us of being home in Madeira. Great atmosphere, the staff are super accommodating and friendly. Service is timed well. Good traditional menu with a few other bits thrown in. Would like to see Milho Frito on the menu as its such a staple in Madeira, but the espetada and bolo do caco are delicious and authentic. Food is delicious, great portions. We had three courses, including two desserts and loads of alcohol and it was only about £48 per person, which is decent. We will definitely be back a third time and many more.
